Girl's Skirt

girl's skirt

When I found this fabric by Moda Fabric at a local
fabric store, I had the urge to make a skirt for
a little girl with it. It is unusual for me to simply
use only one fabric to make anything, but this
patchwork-looking design allowed me to be completely
satisfied with using it by itself.

I love kids' clothes...
Although I don't have any children, I really enjoy
window-shopping in kids' clothes sections.
There are lots of adorable, colorful, and rhythmical
kids' clothes that make me feel like I want to become
a mother of children right away.
(Shallow reason? maybe. lol.)
I think with kids' clothing, expressing
really fancy designs is possible.

I think this skirt came out really cute!

And I think this binding matches perfectly with
the skirt. I wish I had a girl to try it on,
but I don't know any 4 year old girl in person...

I've listed this skirt in my shop
in the case any of you know a 4 year old who'd enjoy
a skirt like this ;) Remember to let me know you came
from here when you shop in my etsy shop so that I'll
include a little gift for a little appreciation ;)

Hope you are having a great Sunday!

Thanks for coming and reading!!

  1. Cute! I love the stuff you do. I generally don't like pink things but somehow you always manage to make it look sweet and fresh. Sigh... if only I can get beyond sewing straight lines, but even that needs practice right now hahaha.

  2. Love, love, love this skirt. Perfect pattern for the print. Unfortunately, not the right size for any of my three girls but I was wondering if you knew the name of the print.... Need some of that, bad!

  3. Thanks everyone!

I love your knitting projects! He-who-is-like-butter is super cute!!

    The Wee Three-
The fabric is the collection called Momo's Wonderland by Moda Fabrics ;) Lots of online fabric stores including Fatquarter shop has it!

  4. This is so cute! I don't have a little girl for it, though. :(

I love Moda fabrics and can't wait to start some projects for Christmas soon.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. I'd love to see a tutorial on this beautiful skirt.

  6. Thanks everyone!

    Southern Gal-
Oh that reminds me that I have to start making Christmas gifts too!

That might be a great idea for my next tutorial!
    This is super easy ;)

  7. Very adorable! You did a great job!

  8. That is such an adorable fabric...i love this this fabric lots! Wish they sell such lovely fabrics here. >_< Oh and that skirt is gorgeous and oh so cute! Have a lovely merry happy day and love to you!

  9. Oh the skirt is super cute! Now I wish my 15 year old daughter was 4 again LOL.

  10. sooo totally cute! The binding just makes it! Great idea.

  11. oh my gosh! sooo cute & cheery- i love it!

  12. The fabric is perfect, how fun. Unfortunately my almost 2 year old is still wearing 12 month clothing so no way would it fit her. It's adorable though.

  13. That's a cute skirt. The fabric is fun!

  14. Your sweet heart really comes out in your blogging. I bet you'd make a great mother. It's so fun to dress little girls, although there's so much more to motherhood. But take it from a mother of 3 girls and 2 boys -- it's so worth every moment of hard work! I hope you'll be blessed with children soon!

15.'s so sweet and cuteeeee. I love the fabric as well.

  16. I almost get the skirt now that I've seen the fabric in person! I thought you had pieced all those patches together! I got a layer cake of it and I used a selection of 6 of them to make your drawstring bag for my daughter to use to carry her ballet shoes and tights to and from school.

  17. This skirt is just darling~ love everything you make!

  18. Beautiful work! My daughter would have loved it back in the day -- she's 21 now! Sheesh!

  19. I always love your fabric choices. So much great color! :)

  20. So cute! Where in San Jose area did you find the MoMo Wonderland?

  21. thanks so much for sweet comments everyone!!

I found this fabric at eddie's quilting bee in sunnyvale. They had other favric from the same collection as well ;)

  22. Thanks! I've been to eddie's to have my bernina serviced, but haven't shopped there much. I live up the street from hart's in santa cruz, and they are pretty much all out of the Wonderland. I have a half of a layer cake stashed away somewhere in case of emergencies,...

  23. Shopping for baby clothes really is the top 2 or 3 reason to have a baby! :) lol I'm going to make a quilt out of my kids' baby clothes sometime in the future here...

I love that skirt, and what a great choice for that fabric!

  24. erica-
Thanks! That sounds like such a fun plan to make a quilt!!!

Thanks for taking the moment to leave a comment ;) I always love hearing from you!
