Yay! I'm back! I can't believe how boring of a blogger
I must have been for the past month. Sorry if you happen to
have visited here multiple times and got disappointed
by no new posts and Thank you for not forgetting about me.
I really missed you and writing in my blog.
Now that I am done with the spring semester,
I have been spending lots of time in my sewing space
and am excited to share what I've been making!
At the end of this post, you'll find a giveaway, so don't miss it!
This is a reversible tote bag that I completed this morning.
I just LOVE the bird fabric! I bought some of the fabric
in Japan last year and had barely any left until I found this
Etsy shop! They carry lots of fabric from the collection
(My Folklore by Lecien) at such reasonable prices. Interestingly,
the imported Japanese fabric is less expensive at the
Etsy shop
than buying from Japanese fabric online shops. What a deal!
I admit I like working with scraps the most.
I really enjoy grabbing some random scraps and
laying out to see what I can come up with.
So much fun. I think this is going to be a drawstring bag.
Is my scrappy stash getting smaller? Nope, not even a little
bit. It keeps multiplying so fast that I can barely catch up
with them. haha. One day though, I'll attempt to make them all
gone by putting ALL of them into use. I really will!!
Here comes another project with scraps.
What it is will be revealed soon. maybe with a tutorial.
Cool thing about this is...
It's reversible! I am really in love with this thing,
so I can't wait to show you guys..but not this time..
Finally, I'm glad to announce that giveaway gift is ready!
It will include this handmade drawstring which is about
9" x 9" in measurement. Pretty much most of the fabrics I
used for it is Japanese fabric. Pink Penguin's blogiversary:
there has to be something with penguins and something Japanese
because lots of my readers love Japanese fabrics.
The reversed side is Japanese linen that I really adore.
A winner will receive this penguin drawstring bag filled
with fabrics and other things including...
this iron-on patch!
I promise you'll receive lots of fun stuff.
To enter for this giveaway, simply leave a comment under
this post letting me know what you've made recently.
It could be really anything! Anything that involved some
creativity. I'd LOVE to hear this ;)
Please leave one comment by the midnight
of May 30, Saturday (Pacific time). I'll pick
a random winner and will announce the result
here on this Sunday.

Glad to have you back! I subscribe via Google reader, so sometimes I don't notice when people don't post for a while, but I had definitely been missing Pink Penguin lately!

ReplyDeleteA fun knit and it fitted too :-)

I recently made a birthday card for my godson. He will turn 5 next week. As my son too ! They were born at 17 hours from interval. It's funny because we used to make a party with all the families together to celebrate these two boys ! When I look at them (my sn and my godson) I can't believe they were so little and so fragile few years ago. Now they become real boys, or little men LOL

I also recently recovered an ottoman from the trash (perfectly good!) and covered it with some crazy patchwork and applique hearts =] I would totally love to win this contest, your fabrics are *adorable*!

Hello :)
ReplyDeleteI always love reading your blog. Do not worry about your posting times, many people watch your blog through RSS which means your messages come to us!
One reason I love reading your blog is because you inspire me to create things of my own. Some of my first things I made were the drawstring bags, both my sister and friend have one and they treasure them.
I appreciate you taking the time to write and share instructions for us to use. I have never been confused, not even once, with anything you've written. Your pictures are so full of life.
Your blog is honestly one of the few I look forward to reading. No matter how long you don't blog for, so long as you blog sometimes, your audience will always be here for you :)
How cute is that patch?!!? And I always love your drawstring bags.
ReplyDeleteAfter the whirlwind of Teacher Appreciation gits - fabric coasters, fabric bookmarks, and beaded earrings - and wine charms for my mother for Mother's Day, I'm finally taking a break!
I just made a linen summer quilt for the bed. And I turned a thrifted dress into an apron. I wouldl like to try some of your tutorials this summer. Thanks for all the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLove the adorable fabrics on the bag. I always find Etsy to be the best place for great fabric finds AND prices.
ReplyDeleteI just finished a new toss 'n play ball for my etsy shop.
I am currently working on two quiet books (I have twins). My etsy friend is putting together a tutorial for her blog.
So happy to have found your blog. Will definately be trying your tutorials this summer. :)

ReplyDeleteI also just recently finished a quilt top, and am working on a scrapbook for a graduation gift.
I love following your blog and seeing your creativity at work!
Ooo, this'll be quite the list. I've made a whole pile of jewelry, a pair of PJ pants from the book Weekend Sewing (so that I can review said book), a polymer clay cane (with every step photographed for a tutorial), and have been painting and drawing all over the place. I'm not sure what I'm going to do next, though.

ReplyDeleteI start lots of things, but last thing I actually finished was Japanese - a little coin purse. http://www.flickr.com/photos/9634952@N03/3573315762/ Lots of hand sewing to finish it. I love it. Hard to show the shape in a photo, though.
Your bags look really good, such simple quilting and so perfect with those fabrics.

I had 6 long sleeve blouses that I didn't like to wear because of the button up cuffs. So, I shortened the sleeves and made "new" 3/4 length sleeve blouses. I'm so excited about them. And, now I have scraps--gingham, seersucker, cotton prints--to use in a project. Maybe a new scrap tote bag??
