So glad to be back here! I missed sewing and I missed blogging,
especially this moment where I am really excited to show what
I made and the tea tastes so good. I love how sunny today is too;
Not that I like to be in the sun but I like to get some nice sunshine
from the window while I enjoy being home doing what I want to do.
Sunshine is good.
What have you guys been up to? Making anything?
I've been really enjoying making potholders these days.
And as always everything involves patchwork and quilting.
I love this spring color potholder.
Vintage fabric + fabric with writing + Polka dots:
It is my very basic style. I just like the combination!
This is my fave so far. I really adore the daisy prints
with navy blue background fabric. It comes from a vintage
skirt that I found in a vintage clothes store in Seattle.
I loved the design but it didn't look that good on me.
I gladly decided to move it from the clothes shelf to my
vintage fabric collection shelf.
*smile* I love birdies.
Fun fabric that I want in all colorways.
This guy turned out to be cute too!
I really like the fabric I picked for it, but a
sad finding was that...
There is a small stain on the back of the potholder ;(
Can you see it? I know it is barely noticeable, but
I decided to set a little lower price for this one,
just because I think it's fair to do so.
This is the last potholder I have for today.
I really like the combination of vintage fabric and linen.
Hello again ;)
All those four potholders have been listed in my shop.
Remember to let me know you read my blog for a little gift:
a small piece of Japanese fabric ;)
Have a great weekend!!
Thanks for coming & reading!
I stumbled across your blog the other day; I don't even remember how but I love it. I have added it to my Google Reader and look forward to every post. Thanks for sharing your creations with us. It makes me want to jump up and sew...Kathy

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI was wondering, did you sew the back and front together before you added the batting? I have been making things for a school fundraiser and it is putting a binding on that takes ages. But these work perfectly without a binding! Do you have any tips on how to do that?
Thank you,
Fran
I rushed across to your shop for this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/ayumills/3336610792/ but it wasn't there. Just loved the fabrics; maybe there'll be more?

I am so inspired, I just brought up some fabric to cut into squares for potholders. You have great fabric choice selections. Also, I could not see the stain:)
ReplyDeleteSo many nice potholders! very nice and colorful, an inspiration for spring.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much everyone!! Every one of your comment is much appreciated! You guys always inspire me to get more creative!
ReplyDeleteFran & Luntville-
How I did was to quilt together the top patchwork layer and batting and then sew the back layer, leaving an small opening somewhere then turn the right side out. Then I ironed to make the potholder flat before sewing around the edges. I've seen this way of making potholders everywhere in Japanese craft books and it is working pretty well. I totally understand about using binding tapes...it sure makes a cute potholder but takes forever, so I like this way better. But one thing I want to try out is using quilting spray. I wonder if that would allow me not to quilt at all. Anyways, thanks for your questions and i hope this helps;)
Cris-
Yes! As soon as I read your comment, I started cutting some squares from the same fabric! I can't make ones exactly like the one in this post, but I will make some similar ones for my shop ;)
Thanks again for your support, everyone!
It's the details. I love them!

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say hi and that I love your blog. It was shared with me a while ago to look at your fabric baskets which I love and swear I will make but never have had the time yet. Saw the potholders tonight, they are fabulous. I am so addicted to patchwork and quilting things. I tend to do more with the crazy quilting. That is what I plan to try with the fabric basket. Your blog also inspired me to try a blog of my own to help promote my shop. So thankyou for all your sharing and inspiration. hipchic~cynde
