I have tons of things I forgot to blog about! I finally got around to taking some pictures, so here we go! This plastic bag dispenser above was made for Cotton Time magazine, No.110, (Japanese magazine). I remember having lots of fun paper-piecing those small bag blocks although at the time, I was hugely pregnant.
Cotton Time has been around since I was little, so it was really cool to see my name in it. Thanks to the editor who kindly invited me to contribute for the patchwork section.
You can buy Cotton Time magazines at superbuzzy here :)

Next up is this great book compiled by the lovely Tricia Waddell. I am honored that several of my past projects for Stitch are featured in it including these:
This is such a nice book with a collection of all sorts of different bags. I definitely have to make the bag on the cover made by Malka. It's amazing, isn't it?

Thanks to friends who tagged me on Instagram to let me know about my project being featured in this issue of Mollie Makes, a really inspirational magazine published in England.
It is the apron I made for my book. Pretty cool to see it in this mag!

Lastly, this is the newest issue of Patchwork Tsushin, Japanese magazine. I don't have any project in it but...
In the preview section on the last page of the mag, between super famous stars in Japanese craft world is a little name that may look familiar to you. The line translates.. "ayumi's baby diary". That would be..... me!! I will be sharing my baby diary in this awesome magazine along with some sewing projects for babies for one year starting the issue coming out next month. This idea was brought up by the amazing editor of Patchwork Tsushin way before Honoka was born. I have been into baby sewing almost exclusively, so it didn't take me a moment to make a decision, though I admit I was a bit intimidated!
I can't wait to see this little one's picture in my favorite Japanese quilt magazine! I will talk more about it once the next issue comes out. You can score Patchwork Tsushin at supperbuzzy here or subscribe it directly from the publisher here. This magazine will not disappoint! (It always comes with some nice extras too! The current issue includes a 2014 calendar featuring beautiful quilts!)
Ok, I thought I was going to do short blogposts lol. Well...next time!!
Thanks for putting up with me!
I'm not surprised that all these magazines/books want your projects, they are really lovely!

ReplyDeleteLovely to see your talents being recognised in such lovely magazines, Ayumi. Your gorgeous girl is growing so quickly; that's a lovely pic of her with her dad. Hope you are all having lots of fun together.
ReplyDeleteHonoka is getting so grown-up looking and is soooooo cute! It's great to see all of your wonderful work that's been published recently, and especially lovely that you'll be in every issue of Patchwork Tsushin in 2014! I'm subscribed to it and dying to receive my first issue in December. Yayyyyy! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteOh such a sweet little girl - so precious. :) I've been wondering how you are doing, knowing that the first year of motherhood is such a wonderful elation, but full of many changes in your life. How excited it will be for you to document your first year and projects for the baby! My daughter is now 17 years old and it just seems like yesterday she was Honoka's age. Time flies and treasure each and every moment. Next thing you know, Honoka will be asking for the keys to the car!
ReplyDeleteAyumi, do you think the magazine would have enough visual aids for those who cannot read Japanese? I've purchased other Japanese books and I can make my way through the pictures. Just curious if the magazine is similar to the books in their pattern directions? Often, format for magazines is a bit more condensed, so not sure? I jumped over to Superbuzzy to look at the magazines offered and the projects on the cover look great, so I'm tempted... just want to be sure I will be able to manage my way through the instructions?
Congrats on so many lovely projects! Thank you again for brighten S up! Thank you for sharing these great projects with us~ Honoka is getting so big. Has she gotten teeth?
