Procrastinating...

fabric basket
According to the To-Do list I've made for this spring break,
I am supposed to do LOTS of things..lots of not fun things.
But I am spending so much time playing with fabric,
sewing, shopping at craft stores, browsing etsy shops
and ebay, and reading craft blogs, and brainstorming
what I make next, what I write next in my blog...
because these activities are much more fun and keep me happy!

fabric basket

I made the fabric basket again. Probably most of you discovered
this blog, because you found a link to this tutorial somewhere
in the blogsphere. I am very grateful for the opportunities that
the fabric basket tutorial brought for me - meeting you, seeing
your baskets, sharing ideas with you, and motivation to sew more!
Some of you asked me to make a tutorial for the patchwork
tote bag in the last post. Thanks for the fun idea! Maybe it's
going to be my next tutorial, though I can't promise when.

patchwork bag

This is another project I worked on this week based on my
own tutorial. It's going to be a gift for my friend who is
so nice to always bring yummy homemade bakery when it's
still fresh and warm. I decided to make something for her
with this muffin print fabric, and this is the result.
The lining is entirely the muffin fabric. I hope she'll notice!

scraps

Another thing I've been working on is to decrease the amount of
fabric scraps that are getting out of control.. I am trying my
best to use scraps whenever I can, but for some reasons,
they keep increasing. Some seamstresses are great at
making things using just scraps and make me want to find
efficient ways to use up my scraps!

scraps

I keep them because I know they are great resources.
They have lots of possibilities to become contributors
for my projects.

playing with scrap

I started piecing scraps together to make a drawstring bag.
I think it's a pretty good idea and can't wait to see it finished!

The fabric basket is now available in my shop;)

Thanks for looking!!

Reversible Quilted Tote Bag

Reversible quilted tote bag

I had this urge to make a quilted tote bag yesterday.
I hadn't made bags for a quite while. Tote bags are
something I used to make like crazy. When I just started
learning how to sew, I really enjoyed making simple tote
bags and making them gifts for my friends.

reversible quilted tote bag

I felt like making a tote bag, because this pink
feedsack I purchased on ebay is so super cute and
had to become a bag! I am totally pleased with the result.

reversible quilted tote bag

I used fleece batting, so it's nicely sturdy and cozy.
The liner, which could be the outer if reversed is
Amy Bulter's fabric I really love too.
It's about 11 1/2" times 13 1/2".

I've listed the bag in my shop ;)

Some other things I created last week are more coasters.

Making these are addictive! I know I'll make more.
I'll be more than happy to include one of these
(or a piece of Japanese fabric) if you snatch anything
from my shop until the end of this month ;)

UPDATE(3/24): Thank you! All the coasters are gone-
I'd still love to include Japanese fabric though ;)

Thanks for coming & reading!

Have a great weekend!

More Potholders

Potholders

Thanks a million for your loveliest comments for my last post.
I really enjoy hearing what you think about what I make,
and reading comments from you guys gives me such happy
pleasant moments. Thanks so much for that!!
I have some potholders and coasters I want to share with you today.

potholder

This one is definitely one of my faves.
I never thought about combining fabrics of blue flowers and
pink flowers until I actually put them together and found
out that it is really cute! Most of my crating time is
spent on "thinking." I don't give up until I come up with
a fabric combination that I really love.

potholder

Oh, how I love this ribbon next to the cute flower fabric!

potholder

This cute fabric again for the back side of the potholder.

potholder

I recently got the blue/pink flower feedsack from ebay,
and I am seriously in love. I really wanted to make
something with it, and this is the result ;)

potholder

I love gray..maybe one of my favorite colors.
The combination of pink and gray.. so nice!

potholder

I used this linen fabric I got in Japan for the back side.
I think it matches pretty well with the front side!

potholder
Another Spring colors potholder. Fun!

potholder

Some of these fabrics came from Japan, some from a local
fabric shop in California, some from Yakima, and some
vintage fabric that I found online and had to snatch.
My stashes come from everywhere!!

potholder

Japanese kitchen fabric for the back side.

potholder

I love the effect of the zigzag stitch for this one.

potholder

I simply love it.

potholder

And this fabric again ;)

potholder

I hope you guys are not bored yet, because I have many
more photos to go! This red/aqua one makes me smile.
A girl making an apple pie - supposed to be the theme for this.

potholder
Fun fun!

potholder

This one is really cool too. Makes me think of a
spring day with the freshest air.

potholder

Back side that kinda matches with the front.

That's it for the pothlders for today. I sure enjoyed
making them. Throughout the last week I was daydreaming
about what to make with what fabrics while what I should
have been thinking about is midterms coming up. haha.

coasters from scraps

And this morning I was again procrastinating by getting
busy making these coasters. They are entirely made from
my scrappy stash. To show them individually..

Makes me want to make more coasters!!!

All the items in this post have been listed in my shop!

Patchwork Potholders

potholders

So glad to be back here! I missed sewing and I missed blogging,
especially this moment where I am really excited to show what
I made and the tea tastes so good. I love how sunny today is too;
Not that I like to be in the sun but I like to get some nice sunshine
from the window while I enjoy being home doing what I want to do.

fabric mess

Sunshine is good.

fabric mess

What have you guys been up to? Making anything?

potholders

I've been really enjoying making potholders these days.
And as always everything involves patchwork and quilting.

potholders

I love this spring color potholder.
Vintage fabric + fabric with writing + Polka dots:
It is my very basic style. I just like the combination!

potholders

This is my fave so far. I really adore the daisy prints
with navy blue background fabric. It comes from a vintage
skirt that I found in a vintage clothes store in Seattle.
I loved the design but it didn't look that good on me.
I gladly decided to move it from the clothes shelf to my
vintage fabric collection shelf.

potholders

*smile* I love birdies.

potholders

Fun fabric that I want in all colorways.

potholders

This guy turned out to be cute too!

potholders

I really like the fabric I picked for it, but a
sad finding was that...

potholders

There is a small stain on the back of the potholder ;(
Can you see it? I know it is barely noticeable, but
I decided to set a little lower price for this one,
just because I think it's fair to do so.

potholders

This is the last potholder I have for today.
I really like the combination of vintage fabric and linen.

potholders

Hello again ;)

potholders

All those four potholders have been listed in my shop.
Remember to let me know you read my blog for a little gift:
a small piece of Japanese fabric ;)

Have a great weekend!!
